Minister of Information in the Office of the Prime Minister Dr.
the Hon. Jacqui Quinn-Leandro on Tuesday announced a number of
decisions arrived at during the weekly Cabinet Meeting of the
UPP Administration.
Dr.
Leandro announced that Prime Minister W. Baldwin Spencer and his
Cabinet agreed to a freeze on all land transfers and
transactions until further notice and that all members of the
Carnival Development Committee had been asked to tender their
resignations. It
was also announced that Prime Minister Hon. W. Baldwin Spencer
disclosed to his Cabinet colleagues that Texan Investor, R.
Allen Stanford will pay a courtesy call on the Prime
Minister’s office on Wednesday.

Members
of the Press, The Cabinet of Antigua and
Barbuda
discussed a wide range
of matters today. Emanating from last week’s Cabinet meeting a
decision was reached to put a freeze on all land transfers and
transactions until further notice.
Cabinet
also discussed the return of
78.9 acres of land currently occupied by the United
States Air Station
to the Crown. In this proposal the
US
will extend the life of a 1977 lease until
31st December 2008
.
Cabinet
also noted that, as decided at its last sitting, all members of
the Carnival Development Committee had been asked to tender
their resignations, in keeping with international protocol that
political appointees resign upon the election of a new
government. This
was further reiterated at today’s meeting. |
